New Entry Requirements for South Africa
Effective from 1 July 2026
From 1 July 2026, all travellers entering or departing South Africa are required to complete an online Traveller Declaration no later than 24 hours before departure.
This requirement applies to:
International visitors
South African citizens
Permanent residents
For children travelling with a parent or legal guardian, the declaration must be completed by the accompanying adult on the child's behalf. The Traveller Declaration is used for customs purposes and includes the declaration of items such as goods, currency, and other applicable belongings.
Please note: Travellers who are only transiting through South Africa are exempt from this requirement.
